This project was undertaken with 1 of our trusted and approved contractors D & D, together we have a long and successful working relationship.
This project is approximately 1500 square metres in size and required some much-needed attention.
The main areas of concern were the midlap’s, and the main sheets themselves.
The original plastisol coating was delaminating, so consequently the galvanised steel sheet was exposed to the elements.

Scenario
The roof in question was treated as per Giromax’s recommendations, this was a full Roofcoat including the Edgecoat application. D & D worked closely with us in the early stages, ensuring all parties were up to speed on what was required to achieve a quality finish.
Problem
The main challenge during this project was bizarrely the heat, this was a rare occurrence for the UK. With temperatures in the high 30’s, this had an effect regarding when works could be carried out.
The same as with the other end of temperature tolerances, we need to follow the guidance whether it be the minimum of 5 degrees or the maximum of 35. The steel sheet in extreme heat will not allow the paint to adhere as required, with the product curing before it has time to fully adhere to the substrate.
Solution
The professional approach taken by our D & D colleagues, contributed to the high standard of works, and the timely completion of this project. Staff were asked to start work earlier in the day, as well as weekends in order to ensure completion.
This was fully appreciated by the client.
Result
The overall standard achieved at the end of the project was high, especially when you take into consideration the extreme weather that had to be navigated. Aesthetically the roof had a great finish, with good encapsulation being achieved.
This resulted in a 25 year guarantee being issued.

Fully moisture tolerant, Giromax® Edgecoat can be applied to wet surfaces, removing application restrictions and performance limitations. Edgecoat can easily accommodate sheet movement and remains unaffected by UV and temperature, achieving robust lap edge encapsulation by hardening to a tough elastic coat with high impact absorption and damage resistance.
